Light-Filled Modern Glass Kitchen Extension in Bristol

Open-plan kitchen extension with glass doors connecting to a landscaped garden

DESCRIPTION

For this Bristol home, we transformed a dated kitchen by replacing an older garden extension with a sleek, contemporary glass structure. The clients wanted to open up their living space to natural light while maintaining comfort throughout the year.

The new extension features a fully glazed roof supported by clear glass beams, creating an unobstructed view of the sky and garden. Each beam was constructed from three laminates of low-iron glass to ensure exceptional clarity and strength.

On the side and front elevations, frameless glazing and a pair of hinged French doors create a seamless connection between the kitchen and garden. With the property’s sunny orientation, solar control glazing was carefully specified to manage heat and glare while keeping the space bright and comfortable.

The result is a modern, light-filled kitchen extension that blends minimalist design with technical performance — perfectly tailored to the client’s vision for open, contemporary living.
