Bespoke Modern Glass Extension with Glass Roof and French Doors
DESCRIPTION
This bespoke modern glass extension in London transformed an unused courtyard into a bright, year-round living space. Built between the existing house wall and a historic garden buttress wall, the project required careful excavation, underpinning, and ultra-precise 3D surveying to achieve a perfect structural fit. Featuring a low-iron glass roof supported by three clear beams and full-height French doors, the extension creates a seamless connection between home and garden while showcasing exceptional engineering and craftsmanship.

EXISTING COURTYARD BEFORE CONSTRUCTION
The original courtyard space prior to any construction work. This enclosed area sat between the house wall and a historic garden buttress wall, forming the footprint for the new glass extension.
LOWERED COURTYARD AND UNDERPINNED WALLS
The courtyard after excavation, with the floor level lowered and both the house wall and garden buttress wall carefully underpinned to create a stable base for the glass cube structure.
3D LASER SCANNING FOR PRECISION MEASUREMENTS
A high-resolution 3D laser scanner capturing the site geometry. Each scan records over 60 million data points, ensuring absolute accuracy for the bespoke structural glass design.
INTERNAL VIEW OF GLASS EXTENSION DURING INSTALLATION
An inside view of the glass extension taking shape, showing the clarity of the low-iron glass and the spacious feel created by the frameless design.
