A Seamless Solar Controlled Glass Link in Nottingham

Exterior view of a seamless solar-controlled glass link connecting two modern buildings in Nottingham 1

DESCRIPTION

Bridging a modern home and its substantial annexe, this bespoke glass link in Nottingham replaces an outdated roof over a paved area with a clean, contemporary connection filled with natural light. To achieve the client’s vision of uninterrupted, full-height glass elevations, each pane was manufactured as a single piece measuring 3 metres by 2.4 metres and weighing 360 kg. This demanded a highly accurate 3D laser survey to guarantee a perfect fit, along with crane-assisted installation. With no openings for ventilation, advanced solar-controlled glazing was essential to maintain comfort—resulting in a beautifully minimal link that performs as well as it looks.

DIGITAL SURVEY OF REQUIRED LOCATION
Before work began, the existing covered area was digitally scanned using 3D laser equipment to capture every detail and ensure the new glass link would fit precisely.
