Modern Glass Extension, With Full Height Sliding Doors
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This modern glass extension in London was designed to create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living. Built between two existing buttress walls, it transforms a once-unused garden space into a bright, contemporary area filled with natural light and year-round comfort.
The design features a bespoke glass roof supported by clear glass beams, paired with four full-height sliding glass doors spanning the entire width of the extension. Each door moves independently, allowing the whole façade to open up to the garden for effortless indoor-outdoor living.
The project’s unique shape and long glass beam spans — almost seven metres — required precision engineering and innovative structural glass design. Laminated glass beams, crafted from the maximum lengths available in the UK, achieve both strength and transparency.
With solar control glazing for thermal efficiency, this bespoke glass extension combines modern architecture with comfortable, elegant living — a perfect example of how glass design can transform a home.
